Michelle

Michelle came to live with us at NLCH in January 2008. She was eight months old and weighed 5 lbs. 11 oz. When we first got the call from the courts, we envisioned a very sick baby, perhaps in her last days. But instead, when she arrived with her siblings, we were surprised to see a beautiful little girl who was alert and full of life!

She has four precious siblings: Oscar, Iris, Randy, and her baby sister, Gaby, who will be one at the end of September.

Michelle weighed 1 lb. 12 oz. when she was born and spent much of her first months of life in the hospital.
She just turned three and is now 25" tall and weighs just over 11 lbs.
So why is Michelle so small? After many doctor consultations with various specialists and many hours researching on the internet, along with valuable input from friends, especially those in the medical field, we believe that she has MOPD II (2), a rare form of Primordial Dwarfism. More information on this is available from this informative article on the doctor and hospital where we are taking her in mid-August:

We have many questions and hope to get the answers we need in order to better care for her. But above all things, we know that God has His hand on this little girl. We have learned so much of His goodness in the short time she has been with us and look forward to what He has in store for her in the future.
