Melvin Comes Home!

After spending seven weeks in two different hospitals, undergoing numerous tests, blood transfusions and treatments, Melvin came home yesterday. Several of us teared up with joy as we saw older brother, Kevin, 6, rushing up to greet him as he got out of the van, held by his home father, Milton. Due to hospital regulations, Kevin was not able to see Melvin during his stay in the hospital.

Bety holds Melvin as he shows off a drawing of the play room at the hospital that he painted. Check out the bright colors. This young man has talent!

As you may know, this precious four year old was diagnosed with leukemia about a month ago. This came after several weeks of him having fever, for which no cause could be found. As if that was not enough, while in the hospital he contracted a nasty bacterial infection and a couple of weeks ago, came down with chicken pox.

Thankfully, chemo was started and he has now had several treatments. The encouraging news is that doctors have diagnosed a type of leukemia that has an excellent prognosis for successful treatment, and they also say his body is responding very well to the treatments. Praise God!

Thank you for praying and we ask you to continue to pray for complete healing for Melvin, pray against any of those nasty side effects from the chemo, and pray for spiritual and emotional strength for him and for his home parents, Bety and Milton.
